SHAKESPEARE AT WINEDALE

The Theater, Interior.

For twenty-five years now, starting in August, the English Department at the University of Texas in Austin has sponsored performances of the works of William Shakespeare. This ground breaking academic program provides students from many disciplines an opportunity to explore Shakespeare through performance.

It is also an opportunity for audiences to enjoy some brilliant theatre in a unique setting. The plays are performed in a restored old log barn on the campus of the Winedale Historical Center.

It’s a new way to experience the Bard and one that you won’t soon forget. Dr. James B. Ayres, the creator and director of the program also leads current and former students in spring performances of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and a Christmas presentation of the fifteenth century English miracle play, The Second Shepherd’s Play.
