PAUL SIMON (RADIO) BOWIE

(It was the '70's. "Rhymin' Simon" had just come out. We listened to "St. Judy's Comet" a lot when Jesse was pregnant. Give me a break.)

The other thing about the kid is that he talks too much. Thats how he got his nickname. He started talking very young. He just loves the glorious invention of words and relishes the sound of his own voice. It's like an addiction. When he was three, he would sit in his room, by himself, listening to the radio and immitating the announcers. One day I got sick of the racket and yelled at him to turn the radio down.

"What radio?" he said. Hence his name. The boy has a gift. It's just one I often wish we could return for refund or exchange.

His mother won't have anything to do with the family nicknames. Joseph is not Joey and Paul is not Radio. How dare anyone diminish her "perfect little men" with such casual labels.
